Plans call for a waterfront eatery and science museum to complement Maritime Science Institute.
Since the start of the pandemic, however, the port has been revitalized as a destination for families and others who come to enjoy bay views, laugh along with the Zoppe Italian Family Circus, watch drive-in movies or buy fresh fish from the Pioneer fishing trawler.
Now the port is looking to cash in on its newfound fame and is eyeing an expansion that could include a new waterfront restaurant and maritime museum for the South Bay.
