Port of Redwood City to Host First Annual Drone Light Show on May 6

Join the Port of Redwood City (Port) and Open Sky Productions for a free concert and drone light show on Saturday, May 6 featuring a 90-minute performance by the E-Ticket Band starting at 7 pm. The light show will include more than 100 drones taking flight and soaring into the air for a spectacular maritime production, illuminating moving images of jellyfish, boats and many other aquatic visions 400 feet above the bay.

The drone light show will be where the 4th of July fire works are held (Port of Redwood City, 459 Seaport Court, Redwood City) and is dog and waterfront friendly. The lighted drone show will start approximately at 8:45 pm, and last about 12-15 minutes with music. There will be several food trucks onsite at the beginning of the event featuring Mister Softee, Twister Food Truck and Blue Fish Kitchen. Beer and wine will be avilable from Ghostwood products at an outdoor booth across from the stage where E-ticket will be performing.

“We are extremely excited to be working with Open Sky to host our first ever drone light show on the bay,” stated executive director of the Port Kristine A. Zortman. “This event is new, unique and is just one of the many ways the Port of Redwood City is activating our waterfront by offering fun, family friendly events to serve the community. We hope to make this a tradition that everyone looks forward to each year.”

This event is in tandem with the Pacific Sail and Power Boat Show at the Westpoint Harbor May 4 – 7. The show will include new sail and cruising power boats, gear, hardware, seminars and interactive workshops. Tickets for the show are $15 for ages 12+ and free for 12 and under.

There will also be a fresh fish sale on May 6 to tie in with the drone show. Depending on the weather, the fish being sold will include halibut, black cod, rockfish and sand dabs.. A time is still to be determined but updates will be provided on The Port’s social media and website once more details are confirmed.

Attendees to the drone show are encouraged to bring their family to enjoy the event. Guests are asked to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. For more information visit https://www.redwoodcityport.com/droneshow .
