Fun Fact: Did you know that women make-up approximately 2% of the 1.9 million seafarers globally?

This month’s newsletter is setting sail with features on influential maritime women, water adventures with Port of Redwood City tenants and education on recycling plastics.

March is Women’s History Month and in honor of this, we share the legacy of just a few of many maritime women – past and present.

Come to the Port to splash in waves of fun with several of our water recreation tenants. Activities are available every week for all water skill levels. Oh, and don’t forget to save the date for the annual drone show on Saturday, May 9!

Plastics are categorized in three ways, and though they’re all the same material, they aren’t recycled the same. We take a deeper dive into the negative implications of plastics for our environment and offer ways you can help reduce your plastic usage. (*correction in the newsletter: Plastic containers and packaging contribute at least 14.5 million tons to municipal solid waste generated in the United States annually.)
