Port of Redwood City Announces “Rock on Water” Annual Drone Show on the Waterfront

The Port of Redwood City will light up the sky on Saturday, May 9, for its annual drone show. This year’s “Rock on Water” rock and roll theme will feature more than 400 synchronized drone displays with illuminating animations of guitars, sound waves, drums and more.

“Kicking off summer fun, our annual drone show has become a Redwood City tradition” said Kristine Zortman, executive director of the Port of Redwood City. “The Port’s vibrant and active waterfront is the perfect setting to host events that bring our community together, celebrating cherished traditions and local vendors. The evening, produced in partnership with Open Sky Productions, will feature local food vendors, including:
Mister Softee Ice Cream
Kettle Queen
Curveball Slider Truck
Vero’s Little Kitchen
Twister Food Truck
Chick n; Bros
Red Sauce Restaurant
Devil’s Canyon Brewing Co. will also return to pour its famous craft beer, wine and root beer.
Live Music
The evening will also feature a live performance by Jumping Jack Flash, a Rolling Stones tribute band playing classics like “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Gimme Shelter” and “Paint It, Black.”
Family Activities
Families will find plenty to enjoy before the drone show begins. Activities include:

New LED dinosaur puppet, Doloresaurus

Know Before You Go
Plan ahead and arrive early for the best drone show view and the free giveaway prize. Attendees are encouraged to bring a jacket and low back chair or blanket to enjoy the drone show. Dogs on leashes and small outside coolers are permitted.
The Port is looking for high school and adult event volunteers to help with event set up, kid activities and event breakdown. Those interested can sign up using this form.
