Waterfront Public Access and Viewing
The Port has a more than one mile of waterfront public access, walkways and viewing areas. These include waterfront parks with picnic areas, restrooms, and parking. Fishing is allowed from the public fishing pier. The Port has the only public boat launching facility with access to San Francsisco Bay south of Coyote Point. Boats on trailers can be launched in the Redwood City Channel 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The use fee is $5.00 per launch.
Municipal Marina
The Port operates the 190-berth Redwood City Marina. This modern marina facility can accommodate vessels up to 50 feet in length and has 10 feet of water depth at low tide. The Marina provides electricity and water to all boats, and restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities for all Marina users. Public Boat Launching Facility
The Port has the only public boat launching facility with access to San Francisco Bay south of Coyote Point. Boats on trailers can be launched in the Redwood City Channel and have access to all of the waterways in the area. The boat launch is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The use fee is $5.00 per launch.
Spinnaker Sailing Center
Adjacent to the Marina, Spinnaker Sailing Center operates a sailing school and offers boat rentals to the public.
Sequoia Yacht Club
The Sequoia Yacht Club has its headquarters at the Marina along with its recreational boating club and a clubhouse. In addition, they offer a program for Junior Sailing to teach young people sailing and navigation.
Waterfront Festivals and Public Events
The Port is the location for public events and festivals featuring visits by historic ships and sailing vessels. Each spring the Port is the location for the "Opening Day" of the boating season with a decorated boat parade and other activities. Crew boat races, Hawaiian Outrigger canoe races, and sailing regattas are regularly held on the Port's waterfront.
Dry Boat Storage
The Port currently operates a temporary dry boat storage facility next to the public boat launch where boats on trailers can be stored in a secure area and off of private driveways and public streets. The site is managed by Larry Mayne of the Sequoia Yacht Club. It is located on the paved parking lot area adjacent to the public boat launch ramp.
